My Postdoc Abroad - Career perspectives for doctoral researchers: finding a way to harvard and into professorship

From Bostonia to Franconia: Nicolas Vogel studied Chemistry at Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz and joined the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research for his doctoral degree, which he obtained in 2011. He successfully applied for a postdoc scholarship from Leopoldina to join the group of Joanna Aizenberg at Harvard University in Cambridge, USA. In 2014, he joined the FAU as an associate professor in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering.

In his talk, Nicolas will share his experience, discuss how to best get in contact with potential postdoc supervisors and discuss what has helped him returning to Germany to pursue an academic career.
